So, you want to know more about me?
That’s great! I want to get to know you too. Well, my name is Nicolet, you can see my picture in the header above. I am Dutch, born and raised in the Netherlands, still live there in the historical town of Hoorn. I am a born entrepreneur; as a child, I just loved to sell my toys and my moms’ stuff on the local flee-market in summer. Especially the negotiation was my favorite part. After I had graduated from high school, I went to art school to study interior architecture; I also picked up some basics on graphic design & photography. Even though I have always been a sucker for interior design, when I finished college, I did not know what to do. Somehow I ended up in corporate businesses as an office manager.
The pursuit of happiness
Losing both my father and father in law at 57 and becoming a mom of two within the timespan of 4 years, became a turning point in my life. Even though I liked my job, it was not what I dreamed of as a child. Life is too short, to vulnerable not to follow your dreams! I decided to pursue my happiness, start a new life as an entrepreneur doing “something” with graphic design, photography, and interiors.
In 2007 I started a business, doing everything I liked: interior design, graphic design, branding, and home staging. I picked up photography to shoot the spaces that I created and staged. Three years later I niched down: During the crisis, home staging and interior photography became my primary source of income.
Growing my business with courses
Home Staging in the Netherlands is different from other countries; it is merely necessary to offer photography in the package to be successful, and that’s what I did. My business was growing; I guess by now I have staged and photographed over 2000 properties. Many colleagues started asking me questions about my workflow and my photography skills. We have excellent photography schools in our country both none of them specialized in interior photography. In 2011 developed the first course on interior photography in the Netherlands. The course was an instant success, and to my surprise, I loved tutoring and coaching others to grow their business. Entrepreneurship, branding, blogging and social media became part of the course last year. I started a separate class for the production of video for real estate. And finally: I wrote three books that are ready for translation into English!
I have learned so much over the past ten years in business and all those things I want to share with you. Whether you’re a home stager, photographer or a brand new entrepreneur, I will teach you how to style and shoot spaces, brand and grow your business.
PS: English is not my native language, so please forgive me if you notice some mistakes in my sentences!
